Phresh out the runway, indeed. Rihanna stunned this weekend at Coachella wearing an almost head-to-toe outfit from the Fall 2018 Gucci show. The look included a sweater referencing Russ Meyer’s cult film Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!, a red and green crossbody purse and the main attraction, the Gucci Balaclava. The runway look featured beige plaid trousers and bejewelled loafers – instead, she opted for full snakeskin trousers and matching heels.
Just a reminder, none of these pieces are currently available in any retailers right now because we’re still in Spring 2018 in case you forgot. Of course, this marriage of Rihanna, recipient of the CFDA Fashion Icon award, and the number one hottest brand can only give birth to an iconic fashion moment such as this so it’s only natural that Gucci can willingly give up these pieces. Christina Binkley, fashion columnist for the Wall Street Journal, told The Fashion Law in a piece about what drives the success of Gucci that it’s “because it’s the hottest brand around, their photos go viral when they wear it, and Gucci is brilliant about working with celebs.”
If anyone remembers, Rihanna wore full Gucci look AGAIN last year during Coachella 2017. She was wearing THE crystal-adorned bodysuit valued at $12,000 complete with the face mask from the Fall 2017 show.
